TIMOTHY'S SAXOPHONES

CERTIFIED GEARHEAD

Alto

Tim plays a Selmer Series III Alto Saxophone (without engraving) with kangaroo-skin pads and domed Selmer stainless steel resonators. Tim plays classical music on Vandoren A28 and AL3 and Selmer S90 mouthpieces with Vandoren 3.5 reeds. Although he owns nearly every alto saxophone ligature ever made (he has a problem), he primarily plays on a Vandoren Optimum Ligature or a Vandoren M/O. He has a gold plated and a solid silver neck between which he alternates at seemingly random intervals. He plays jazz on a Runyon Custom mouthpiece with Vandoren ZZ 2.5 reeds. Timothy prefers the Oleg Ergonomic Neck-strap and occasionally uses custom made key clamps. He has a Bam Trekking Case for lugging it all around.

Tenor

Tim plays The Martin Tenor saxophone (c. 1955) with the lacquer removed. His classical mouthpiece is a Vandoren T20 with strength 3 Vandoren reeds. It has Saxgourmet brand kangaroo-skin pads and stainless steel resonators. For jazz he uses a Dukoff D8 mouthpiece and Vandoren ZZ 2.5 reeds with a Fortissimo ligature.

Baritone

Tim does not own his own baritone at this time, however he normally uses a Selmer Series II or a Series III if he can get his hands on one. Tim plays a Selmer S90 190 mouthpiece with Vandoren 3 reeds and a BG gold plated ligature. He doesn't switch his mouthpiece for jazz; he just blows harder.

Soprano

Tim's soprano is a Yamaha Custom YSS-875EXHG in the normal lacquer finish. All of the pads are factory stock and the resonators are plastic domed (also factory stock). Tim plays classical music on a Vandoren S27 mouthpieces with Vandoren 4 reeds and a Vandoren Optimum Ligature. Tim also has a silver Martin Handcraft Low-Pitch (c. 1933) with matte lacquer and a gold-washed bell. It has Saxgourmet brand kangaroo black leather pads and domed Selmer stainless steel resonators. He plays jazz on a Runyon Custom mouthpiece with Vandoren ZZ 2.5 reeds.
